Code of Conduct

This pledge is compulsory for all Adventurer Camporee attendees over the age of 18. Please read through each statement carefully and then tick the box at the bottom of the page to give your understanding and agreement.

 

  1. I am aware of the Code of Conduct for all people over 18 years of age attending the Adventurer State Camporee and agree to abide by this code and uphold it to the best of my understanding and ability. It is everyone’s business to monitor for compliance with the Code of Conduct. Misconduct against Church policy and guidelines, legal statements, or Code of Conduct may also lead to the person being suspended or terminated from the Camporee.
  2. I will uphold the ethos of the Seventh-day Adventist Church
  3. I will behave as a positive role model to children and young people
  4. I will treat all children with respect without showing favouritism
  5. I will use positive and affirming language toward children and young people
  6. I will intervene when children or young people are engaging in inappropriate or bullying behaviour towards others or acting in a humiliating or vilifying way
  7. I will help provide an open, family-friendly environment for children to worship, interact and socialise where children have a voice in an appropriate way
  8. I will alert my Club Director or the Camp Director if I observe an apparent breach of this code.
  9. I will report suspicions of child abuse or neglect to my Club Director or the Camp Director
  10. I will seek advice about suspicions or disclosures of child abuse or neglect by contacting Adsafe – 1800 737 732, relevant State and/or Country Child Protection Services in your region and report apparent alleged criminal conduct to Police.
  11. I will not engage in inappropriate rough physical play with children or young persons.
  12. I will not use physical means or corporal punishment to disciple or control a child, other than reasonable restraint such as holding a child to mitigate injury.
  13. I will not hold, kiss, cuddle, or touch a child (not your own) in an age/culturally inappropriate manner OR in a manner considered inappropriate by reason of the nature of the program/activity/occasion/event, except for appropriate touch (for example, comforting distress)
  14. I will not assist children (not your own) to do things of a personal nature that they can do for themselves
  15. I will not spend time alone or remain in a confined or secluded space with a child or young person (not your own)
  16. I will not make sexually suggestive comments to a child or young person
  17. I will not make offensive or inappropriate comments to a child, especially regarding their appearance, ability or sexuality
  18. I will not give personal gifts or favours that target a particular child (not your own)
  19. I will not use profane language near or around children
  20. I will not publish any unauthorised photos, movies or recordings of a child or young person that may identify them such as their: full name, age, email address, telephone number, residence, school, or details of a club or group they may attend.
